UK sizing, honestly: how to order the right size first time

UK 6 to 20, what the measurements really mean, and how to choose when you sit between two sizes.

Measure once, order confidently

Take three measurements with a soft tape, over the underwear you would normally wear: bust at the fullest point, waist at the narrowest, hips at the fullest. Write them down — they change far less often than dress sizes do.

Then compare against the size chart rather than the label you usually buy. UK sizing varies by several centimetres between brands, and that variance is why so many first orders get returned.

Choosing between two sizes

If your bust and waist land in different sizes, size to the larger measurement for structured pieces (blazers, shirts, tailored trousers) and to the smaller for anything with stretch or a wrap detail.

Fabric decides the rest. Ponte, jersey and fine knit have give; crepe, poplin and woven satin do not. When the fabric has no give and you are between sizes, take the larger one.

  • Structured and woven → size up
  • Jersey, ponte, fine knit → size down or stay
  • Wrap and tie waists → forgiving, stay with your usual

If it still is not right

You have 30 days to return anything unworn with tags attached, and every product page carries fit notes from real customers where we have them. If a piece consistently runs small, we say so on the page rather than letting you find out.
